Photographer safari Tanzania
A good photography safari is not about covering as many kilometres as possible. It is about being in the right place at the right time. More time for special moments, extraordinary wildlife encounters and impressive landscapes – for everyone who wants to capture Tanzania in unique images.
Why choose a safari designed for wildlife photographers?
Not every safari is ideal for photography.
On a typical safari, different people come together. Some want to see as many animals as possible and visit the most famous national parks. Vehicles are often fully occupied, stops last only a few minutes and the itinerary determines when it is time to move on.
Others prefer to enjoy the landscape, take their time and wait for the right photographic moment instead of immediately moving on. This safari is designed for them.
Whether you already have experience in wildlife photography or are planning your first photography safari in Africa – what matters is your enthusiasm for nature and capturing special moments.
Classic or Explorer – you decide
Everyone has different ideas about their perfect safari. That's why we offer two options:
Classic Tour
The Classic Tour takes you to the most famous safari areas in northern Tanzania. Tarangire, the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater offer an ideal combination of diverse landscapes and excellent opportunities for wildlife photography. It is particularly suitable for anyone experiencing these fascinating regions for the first time.
Explorer Tour
The Explorer Tour builds on the Classic Tour but focuses on different experiences. Instead of the Ngorongoro Crater, we spend an additional day in Tarangire National Park and travel as far as the remote Silale Swamp. This extensive wetland is one of the quieter areas of the park and is visited far less frequently than the northern parts.
During the dry season, large elephant herds and many other animals are attracted to the area, offering excellent opportunities for intensive wildlife viewing and photography.
Note: Both tours are operated in small groups and allow plenty of time for photography. We will be happy to discuss which route suits you best.
More space in the vehicle. More freedom for photography.

The biggest difference from a classic safari is not the route – it is the vehicle.
While many safari vehicles carry six or even seven guests, we travel with a maximum of three participants per vehicle.
This means everyone has their own window seat and can photograph to the right or left at any time without disturbing other guests or having to ask for space. Especially during wildlife encounters that may last only a few seconds, this freedom of movement makes a real difference.
The smaller group size also creates a quieter atmosphere and more opportunities to respond to light, perspectives and special situations. This is why this photography safari costs more than a classic safari – in return, you get significantly better conditions for your photography.
Itinerary – two options, one shared goal
Both tours take you through some of the best photography areas in northern Tanzania. The only difference is at the beginning of the journey: you can choose between experiencing the Ngorongoro Crater or spending an additional day in Tarangire instead.
Day 1 – Arrival in Arusha
Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport. After being welcomed by your guide, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. The rest of the day is free to relax and settle in.
Day 2 – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your safari begins with a drive to Tarangire National Park. The park is particularly famous for its large elephant herds, impressive baobab trees and diverse wildlife.
